Why the Number 20 Club?
The purpose of this website is simply to give an outlet to some of
the music that we are making now and have made over the past few years as a group of friends
and musicians. As we don't have a fixed band line-up or a band name
we informally refer to our collective efforts as the number 20
club, after our location. New writers, players and collborators are always welcome.
Everything here is "house music" in the purest sense as it was all
recorded at our house, number 20, in the music room. The fact that we are not
tied to a single band line-up or sound has meant that we have been
able to be shamelessly self-indulgent and play the types of music we like - and
they are many. The hub players on most of our songs are Alan Dale with
Neil and Euan McIlvanney. For different projects we have benefitted
from the input, musicality and playing talents of a lot of people
over the past few years. Particular mention goes to Fiona Shannon,
Ian Murray, Martin Waugh, Larry Primrose, Stevie Robson and Gregor Keachie.
In what seems like a previous life, we were based in a room at Shabby Road
Studios in Kilmarnock, Scotland - then home of the fabulous Trashcan
Sinatras. After Shabby Road closed, it was only right that one of the first projects when we moved in to number 20 was The Trashcan Sinatras rehearsing and demoing their Weightlifting album. A very good start indeed to life at Number 20. |
